Has anyone else in R&S read Plato's ''Republic''?

What are your thoughts on the selection of proper ''music,'' the lop-eared version of collectivism that the guardians of the city are expect to comply to, and the form of euthanasia proposed by Socrates and Glaucon (which is basically to neglect the needs of those who are considered to be too far gone to be helped)?
