Can someone with a felony become a firefighter in Ohio?

My fiance caught a drug charge when is was I think 19 but wasn't convicted or sentenced till he was 22. He was charged with a felony and sentenced to a year in prison. He wants to become a firefighter but we don't know if they will take him. I've looked on the Ohio fire marshall website and can't find anything. Will they take felons or do we have to wait for it to be expunged?
